I’ve always been a How person, more interested in the doing than the reasoning. In an interview [here] with Eric Kim, Satoki Nagata brought up the interesting thought that when working on the street one should specifically know Why they are making that image. If confronted by someone on the street, that answer should be readily available. I’m just out taking pictures isn’t a satisfactory response…specifically…why is that person in the frame? Conversely, having that concept completely in mind affects How I might go about building a frame.
